Scripture: In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness
and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; but (which becometh women professing godliness)
with good works. (KJV)
Commentary:
It is not unscriptual for a woman to want to be attractive. Today, however, to what degree should women take this advice
fixing thier hair or wearing gold, pearls, or expensive clothes? Peter was not prohibiting these things:
he was simply saying that women should not be drawing attention to themselves through these things. Modesty ,decency
and godliness are the key words. All women would do well to remember that beauty begins on the inside.
A gentle, modest, loving character gives a light to the face that can not be duplicated by even the best cosmetics.
A carefully groomed and well decorated exterior is artifical and cold unless inner beauty is present. You must allow
God to work on you from the inside out. For the bible says "it is not what goes in a man that defileth him but
it's what comes out of him."
So God
set in place a ministry called Women Of the Word go ahead and say it (W.O.W) that's what I said, but it's just
for you. To nourish,minister, speak encouragement, and most of all to be an example to you. (whosoever will let her
come)
